Pacman Plummets

Today is a sad day. Manny Pacquiao lost a unanimous decision to Eric Morales. This day has surely broken the hearts of many Filipinos. I just hope that Manny is able to rise again from this setback and is able to attain the glory that he had. He has been a hero to many Filipinos, and I hope he stays that way in their hearts ... because for every failure he has had, he has brought more than enough victories. I hope he is able to recuperate and regain his confidence and continue to fight and be a light to his countrymen. Despite this loss, I am not devastated. He lost to a great fighter who himself has risen from the ashes. Now it is his turn to do so. Mabuhay ka Manny! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!

A little prayer for MM

A few days ago one of my Pisay batchmates, Merwin Mendoza, was stabbed and died on arrival at the hospital. I don't really know him personally and only vaguely remember him but he's still my batchmate and I hope he is now in a better place. May God look not on his mistakes but the good things about him and his life, and may the Lord also comfort and strengthen his family and all who was dear to him in his life. Rest in Peace Merwin ...

Pathetic Professionalism

Wow, I never knew you could watch TV in the office. It's amazing how some coworkers just turned on the TV in the boardroom and started watching the NCAA basketball tourney. It's quite unprofessional on their part. I would understand if they were watching the budget announcement or even an Olympic event with a Canadian in it, but watching NCAA ball? And it's not even the Final Four or the Finals, not that that would make it ok. It's pretty lax here in the Ministry of Finance with people taking time out to engage in some lengthy (and usually unecessary and disturbing) social interaction, but this is just unacceptable. Talk about professionalism going down the drain.
